London police say a friend and the mother of the suspect in the murder of Dereck Szaflarski are now facing charges.
Police announced Friday that Lorraine Sturdy, 60, and Julie Hudson, 41, are each facing a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder. Hudson, who is a friend of suspect Robert Williams, has been arrested and is to appear in court Friday morning.
Sturdy, who is Williams' mother, is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon after being arrested earlier in the day.
Williams surrendered to police on Wednesday and is charged with one count of second-degree murder. He appeared in court Thursday and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on June 12.
Szaflarski died early Saturday morning after an altercation at Richmond St. and Piccadilly St. He had been out celebrating his birthday before the incident. Police announced Friday that an autopsy determined that he died of multiple stab wounds. They also said Williams and Szaflarski did not know each other.
