Trucker Hurt In Off-Ramp Rollover

A transport truck driver was taken to hospital after his rig flipped onto its side, spilling a load of dryer sheets along the ditch of a Hwy. 401 off-ramp in London.

Middlesex OPP were called to the westbound 401 exit to Highbury Ave. around 6am on Monday after a tractor-trailer rolled onto its side, taking out a portion of the guardrail.

"It appears the transport truck was trying to go north on Highbury Ave. and lost control at the curb causing it to roll over," said Constable Max Gomez. "The male adult driver of the transport truck was transported to hospital as a precaution, with minor injuries."

The collision sliced open the trailer, sending boxes of dryer sheets into the ditch.

Police are still trying to pinpoint the cause of the crash.

"The preliminary finding is that speed may have been a factor in the collision but we still have to do some mechanical inspections of the vehicle to determine exactly what happened," said Gomez.

Police anticipate they will remain on scene until 12pm Monday. Traffic is slow but vehicles are able to get past the collision.
