A 33-year-old London man already charged in a shooting and two attempted carjackings is now facing more charges.
Haris Masic was arrested on Friday, April 6 in the area of Frontenac Rd. Officers had been looking for a suspect in connection with two incidents in the Westmount area. On Saturday, February 10 police were called to the parking lot of Westmount Shopping Centre. A young man and woman were approached by a man who tried to steal their vehicle. The woman reported seeing a muzzle flash of a weapon being fired. A similar incident happened on March 29, when a man was shot twice and a woman assaulted with a weapon in the parking lot of a park in the area of Viscount Rd. and Wonderland Rd. Both the man and woman were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Several charges, including aggravated assault and robbery with a weapon, were laid against Masic.
This past weekend, police say they searched his home and vehicle and seized three stolen firearms, ammunition, stolen jewellery, and electronic devices.
Masic now faces an additional 26 charges, including four counts of possession of a firearm obtained by crime, three counts of possession of a regulated firearm, three counts of possession of a restricted firearm, three counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, five counts of careless storage of a firearm, and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
He is still in custody.
