Driver Nabbed Twice In Seat Belt Blitz

London police say they gave tickets to dozens of drivers during a weekend seat belt enforcement blitz, including one who was nabbed twice.

From March 30 to April 2, London police and police services across Ontario took part in an enforcement blitz aimed at people not buckling up. A total of 59 seat belt-related tickets were handed out by officers in London.

Of those, 47 were for a driver not wearing their seat belt properly, eight were for a passenger not wearing a seat belt properly, one was for a child passenger who was not properly secured, and three were for inoperative, removed or modified seat belts.

Police say one driver was ticketed on Sunday and then again on Monday.

The fine for not wearing a seat belt or for wearing it improperly is $240 plus the victim surcharge.
