A Mount Brydges father, who lost his daughter in a tragic two-vehicle collision last month, has reportedly died from the injuries he suffered in the crash.
According to a statement on a GoFundMe page set up for the family of Avery Kernaghan, Doug Kernaghan passed away in hospital on Tuesday.
He was driving his 13-year-old daughter to the Ontario Regional Synchronized Skating Championships in Komoka on Saturday, February 10 when his vehicle collided with another on Glendon Dr. west of Parkhouse Dr. Avery died of her injuries the day of the crash, while Doug was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.
"It is with a very heavy heart, that we share the news of Doug Kernaghan. On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, Doug Kernaghan passed away peacefully, with his wife Chrissy by his side," the statement on the GoFundMe page says.
After the collision, residents of Mount Brydges began hanging figure skates from their mailboxes and porches as a tribute to Avery, who had been a member of the Mount Brydges Skating Club since the age of three.
Doug is survived by his wife Chrissy and their son Matthew.
