A big first period helped the London Knights prevail in the nation's capital.
The Knights scored four times in the opening period and overcame a comeback effort by the Ottawa 67s to beat them 7-5 Sunday afternoon at TD Place.
London now has 74 points and the fourth-place position in the OHL Western Conference standings.
The 67s started things off at 3:11 with a goal from Seva Losev. The Knights then opened the floodgates before the first intermission. Tim Fallowfield tied the game with his second goal of the year and Billy Moskal's goal less than a minute later provided London with the lead. Alec Regula and Evan Bouchard were the other scorers in that period.
Ottawa got one goal back in the second frame when Mitchell Hoelscher scored on the power play.
The 67s picked up two more to start the third period, with Travis Barron and Austen Keating to tie the game at 4-4. The Knights responded with two goals of their own from Sergey Popov and Alex Formenton. Jacob Cascagnette got Ottawa to within one with a score at 15:58, but London's Cole Tymkin put the puck into an empty net to seal the win.
Jordan Kooy got 40 saves in goal for the Knights. Olivier Tremblay had seven saves in the first period before being pulled for Cedrick Andree, who had 17 saves of his own for Ottawa.
London welcomes the Guelph Storm to Budweiser Gardens Wednesday night.
