Oxford, Stratford Men Charged In Province-Wide Child Porn Busts

An Oxford County man and a Stratford man are among eight people charged after multiple child pornography investigations across the province last month.

OPP announced the charges and details of the separate investigations on Thursday. Officers searched ten locations in relation to the child sexual exploitation cases. In total eight people were charged with a combined 36 offences.

Police say some of the accused have past convictions for child pornography and sexual offences against children.

In one of the investigations, police searched a home in the Oxford County village of Kintore on February 22 after getting a tip about a person who had images of child sexual abuse. Officers seized two computers. A 36-year-old Kintore man is charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, breaching probation, and possession of marijuana.

Earlier in the month, an online undercover investigation led to a raid on a Stratford home where officers found computers that allegedly contained images of child sexual abuse. A 35-year-old Stratford man is charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and making child pornography available.

The other child pornography busts were made in Fordwich, Formosa, Walkerton, Orangeville, and Owen Sound.

"Our most fundamental responsibility as a society is to protect our children from those who would do them harm," said OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes. "The OPP will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children. These investigations highlight the many OPP, municipal, and First Nations officers who are working diligently to keep our children safe."
