More arrests have been made in connection with a series of violent robberies and assaults in student-populated neighbourhoods near Western University and Fanshawe College.
London police announced Friday a 16-year-old and a 13-year-old have been charged as a result of the investigation into groups of young people breaking into student homes and in some cases assaulting the residents inside.
The 16-year-old is charged with aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm, while the 13-year-old is charged with public mischief to divert suspicion to another.
The latest arrests bring the total number of people charged in connection with the case since last May. In November, ten males and three females ranging in age from 14 to 18 were charged with more than 40 offences. Three of them are now additionally charged with failing to comply with recognizance.
Police issued a warning to those living in the targeted areas to lock up after students at a home on Thurman Circle found a strange man in their basement around 12:45am on October 9. About 20 minutes later, another group of students spotted a man crawling out of a basement window of their Fleming Dr. home. In both cases, the suspect met up with a group of people and students were either threatened or assaulted.
A second warning to lock up came in November when two women, who were not known to the resident, walk inside a home on Patricia St. When asked to leave, one of the women assaulted the resident and a large group of other people forced their way into the home, sparking a large fight.
