Lightning Drown River Lions 123-119 In OT

The London Lightning beat the Niagara River Lions 123-119 in overtime following a close game on Wednesday.

The River Lions scored a 34-22 advantage over London in the first quarter, and continued to lead 62-53 heading into halftime.  However, London fight back in the third and Niagara trailed by one point heading into the fourth frame.

The final quarter was neck and neck with the teams tying the score at 101-101 with 2:46 let in the game. The River Lions retook the lead in the final minutes, but London drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into OT.

The Lightning outlasted the River Lions in the extra frame to win the game and extend their winning streak to six games.

Doug Herring Jr. lead all Lightning scorers with 26 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Royce White added 23 points and nine assists while Ryan Anderson added 22 points and nine rebounds.

The Lightning will host the KW Titans on Friday. Tip-off is at Budweiser Gardens at 7pm.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
