Three London Knights will represent Canada this week.
Forwards Alex Formenton and Robert Thomas, along with defenceman Victor Mete, will take the ice for Team Canada in the IIHF World Junior Championship, set to begin Tuesday in Buffalo.
Mete was named Sunday as an alternate captain of the Canadian squad. The defenceman from Woodbridge, Ont. played 27 games this season with the NHL Montreal Canadiens before being assigned to this year's junior team selection camp. Mete, 19, scored four assists for the Canadiens this season.
Formenton is a second-round draftee of the Ottawa Senators in this year's NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old from King City, Ont. played in 20 games for the Knights this season. He has nine goals for 21 points and 31 penalty minutes.
Thomas, of Aurora, Ont., is one of the Knights' more dangerous scorers. He has 20 goals for 46 points over 27 games. The 18-year-old has a plus-minus rating of 13 and was drafted in the first round of this year's NHL draft by the St. Louis Blues.
A fourth Knight, Max Jones, will be playing in the world juniors for Team USA.
The tournament begins Tuesday with round-robin play. Team Canada will play Finland at 4pm.
