London Cop Pleads Guilty To Assault

A London police officer charged with assault after an incident at police headquarters last year has pleaded guilty.

London police say Sargeant Peter Paquette entered the plea on Wednesday. He was given a conditional discharge and sentenced to two years probation.

Paquette was charged in June after an investigation into an incident at London Police Service Headquarters on September 6, 2016. After the charge was laid, Paquette was placed on administrative duty. An internal investigation by the London Police Services Professional Standards Branch continues. Paquette will remain on administrative duty pending the outcome of that investigation.

Paquette was one of the seven London police officers who appeared on a list of officers facing charges that was released by police last week. Another one of those officers, Constable Omar Hassan, had charges against him withdrawn earlier this week.
