A London police officer charged with sexual assault is now facing even more charges.
The officer, who was suspended with pay after being charged with sexual assault, had charges of criminal harrassment, being unlawfully in a dwelling, and making a harassing phone call laid against him last week after an investigation by Waterloo Regional Police.
On Wednesday, London police announced that the officer is now also charged with breach of undertaking and criminal harassment.
The officer was charged with sexual assault on November 23. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman he had been in a relationship with. The incident happened Friday, November 17 while the officer was off-duty and was reported to police on Wednesday, November 22.
Because he had been in a relationship with the woman, his name is not being released in order to protect her identity.
However, the London Free Press has identified him as 41-year-old Stephen Williams, a two-year member of the London Police Service. The Free Press says the woman who accused him of sexual assault argued that not publicly identifying him posed a risk to public safety.
