London police say an explosion in a home on Hamilton Rd. was the result of drug production gone wrong.
Police announced Wednesday that charges have been laid in connection with the December 4 blast at 1335 Hamilton Rd. Around 3:50pm that day, emergency crews were called to the home to find a a man with second degree burns. He was taken to hospital in serious condition.
An investigation by police, the fire department, and the Ontario Fire Marshall's office determined that the explosion and resulting fire were "suspicious." Investigators also executed a search warrant at the home on December 7.
A 35-year-old London man is now charged with possession of a Schedule II substance (cannabis) for the purpose of trafficking, unlawfully producing a Schedule II substance, arson or explosion causing property damage, and three counts of arson or explosion with disregard for human life.
He is to appear in court on January 19, 2018.
