Oxford County OPP are investigating after firearms were stolen from a Tillsonburg home.
Police say on Tuesday, unknown suspects went through the bathroom window of a home on North St. W in Tillsonburg. Once inside, police say the suspects broke into a locked safe containing the following two firearms:
- Benelli 12 gauge shotgun, camouflage in colour with attached Scorpion Red Dot scope
- Beretta handgun, silver in colour, model 92FS, 9 mm calibre
Police say the suspect is described as a man in his mid to late 30's, possibly early 40's, wearing a orange 'construction coat' with yellow reflective stripes. The vehicle is described as a green Chevrolet two-door pick-up truck, that may be a later 80's model.
Police say a 38-year-old Tillsonburg man has been arrested and charged with break and enter, as well as a variety of firearm-related offences.
According to police, both firearms have been recovered by investigators and will be returned to their rightful owner.
The man is set to appear in provincial court in Woodstock.
"The Oxford County OPP Detachment would like to thank everyone that assisted in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion," says Constable Ed Sanchuk.
