Knights Stump Steelheads 5-2

Robert Thomas scored a goal and an assist as the London Knights beat the Steelheads 5-2 in Mississauga Sunday afternoon.

It's the second win in a row for the Knights, who snapped an eight-game skid Friday night in Kitchener. However, with seven points London remains last in the OHL Midwest Division.

The scoring did not begin until late in the first period, when Liam Foudy lit it up for the Knights at 18:28 of the frame. Thomas' goal with two seconds left in the period gave London a 2-0 first intermission lead.

Evan Bouchard made it a three-goal lead at 24 seconds into the second period, though Mississauga got that goal back when Ryan McLeod scored his sixth of the year. The score after 40 minutes was 3-1 Knights.

The Steelheads pulled within one in the third period when Keean Washkurak found the net. Max Jones and Sam Miletic scored later in the period to put the game away for London.

Joseph Raaymakers, acquired by trade last week from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, took the win in goal for London and stopped 26 shots. Emanuel Vella had 20 saves in the net for Mississauga.

The Knights return to Budweiser Gardens Friday night when they host the Flint Firebirds.
