The driver took off before hitting the light standard and gas station sign at Adelaide and Cheapside. After a brief foot chase, a man was taken into custody.

He's charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Resisting arrest
  • Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon
  • Driving while suspended
No injuries were reported and the intersection was closed for roughly three hours as crews worked to replace the traffic pole. It was reopened shortly after 7am.
