Provincial police are once again appealing to the public for information into the 23-year-old murder of an Aboriginal woman from London.
Sonya Nadine Cywink's body was found August 30, 1994 at Southwold Earthworks, an Indigenous historical site on Iona Rd. in the Township of Southwold. With clear signs of trauma to the 31-year-old's body, police deemed it a homicide and have been investigating ever since.
On Wednesday, OPP stressed their commitment to finding Cywink's killer, confirming it remains an open investigation within the criminal investigation branch and asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Cywink was originally from the White Fish First Nation territory on Manitoulin Island but was living in London at the time of her death. Police have said she was last seen alive near the intersection of Dundas St. and Lyle St. around 2am on August 26, 1994.
A $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Cywink's death is being offered by the Government of Ontario.
