Return Of Overnight Parking Restrictions

Londoners only have a few days left to park overnight on city streets without being required to get a special pass in advance.

Overnight parking restrictions, lifted over the summer months, return after Labour Day. Drivers will then need to obtain a free parking pass from the city if wishing to park a vehicle on the street overnight.

A maximum of 15 free passes may be issued per vehicle license plate, with passes valid on most city streets.

“Drivers are reminded that all other parking restrictions remain in effect, including prohibited parking and stopping areas, fire routes, and the requirement to remove all vehicles from the street during snow clearing operations,” said Annette Drost, manager of Municipal Law Enforcement Services in a news release issued Wednesday.

Passes can be obtained online through the city’s website, by phone at 519-661-4537 or in person at the Parking Services Office at 824 Dundas St. Passes for multiple days and multiple license plates may be obtained with one submission.

Between November 1 and April 15 passes will not be issued more than 48 hours in advance due to winter weather concerns. Over the winter months, overnight parking may be restricted to allow snow clearing operations.

The city first introduced the overnight parking passes in September 2016. Passes are needed to park on city streets until Victoria Day each year.

Motorists caught parking overnight without a pass could be fined $40.
