Police Officers Assaulted, Teen Tasered

A Taser wasn't enough to end a downtown brawl that saw a man, a woman, and two police officers assaulted and a teenager arrested.

London police say two women were arguing with a 16-year-old boy on Richmond St. and Albert St. around 9:30pm on Sunday, when the confrontation turned physical. Two men, who were nearby, tried to help the women by joining the dust-up.

Soon after, an officer was flagged down and was assaulted while trying to arrest the teen.

"Other officers attended to the area. The 16-year-old male was Tasered but it was ineffective," said Constable Kimberly Flett. "The other officers tried to arrest the male and they were assaulted as well."

More police were called to the scene and the teen was eventually arrested.

A man and a woman were treated for minor injuries.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assaulting police, and resisting arrest.
