UPDATE: Second Multi-Transport Crash In A Week Closes 402

For the second time in a week the westbound Hwy. 402 was shut down in Sarnia due to a chain reaction rear-end crash involving three transport trucks.

Lambton OPP, Sarnia Fire and Rescue and EMS responded around 8:40am Tuesday to the crash scene just east of Christina St.

Constable Chris Doupe says the collision happened when a transport slammed into the back of stopped traffic waiting to cross the Blue Water Bridge, and flipped onto its side.

He says two drivers and one passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Kajandan Henry-Fabianns, 27, of St. Leonard, Quebec has been charged with careless driving.

The westbound 402 was closed at Modeland Rd. and traffic was diverted to the Exmouth St. corridor which quickly became congested. Two westbound lanes reopened at 1:15pm, and the highway was fully reopened by 6pm.

Tuesday morning's collision is the second in less than a week on that stretch of highway.

On Wednesday, July 19 a 61-year-old Alabama truck driver was killed in a collision involving three transports on the westbound approach to the Blue Water Bridge.
