UPDATE: Man Dead Following Norfolk County Crash

A 21-year-old Norfolk County man has died following a Saturday afternoon crash.

Ontario Provincial Police in Norfolk County say a Volkswagen was traveling southbound on Blueline Rd in Townsend shortly after 4:30 Saturday afternoon when the vehicle drifted into the northbound lane. The vehicle drove off the road, entered a ditch and struck a tree.

The driver, who police have identified as Miles Frederick Caley, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance with serious, life-threatening injuries. He was later airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to a hospital in Hamilton. Caley was pronounced dead at the hospital.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators were on the scene Saturday evening. Blueline Rd between Concession Rd 11 and Rd 12 in Townsend was closed for five hours.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
