Remains Found At Construction Site Human, Historical

Remains that were found at a Komoka construction site have been determined to be human.

But Middlesex OPP say they are historical in nature and have no forensic interest.

The remains were found Wednesday by construction crews working on a housing development in the area of Oxbow Dr. and Valleyview Dr. in Komoka. Construction was immediately halted and police were called.

On Thursday, a forensic anthropologist from the Office of the Chief Coroner came to the scene and was assisted by a class of forensic science students from the Ontario Police College.

As a result of their findings, police have released the scene and are no longer conducting an investigation.

Police say the Registrar of Burial Sites, War Graves, Abandoned Cemeteries and Cemetery Closures has been informed and will be working closely with the developer.
