Sattler Acclaimed as NDP Candidate

A London-area member of the Ontario legislature has a vote of confidence.

London West MPP Peggy Sattler was easily acclaimed as the New Democratic Party candidate for the 2018 Ontario election Sunday night.

Sattler talked to the crowd about her work as the NDP's women's issues and education critic, along with the work the party has done in Ontario. She has served as the MPP for London West since 2013.

“We’ve been working hard to show people exactly what we would do as government,” says Sattler. “By advocating for changes like turning unpaid internships into paid work experiences for students, we’re showing that an NDP government – a government that’s actually on your side – can make life better for you and your children.”

Among the hundred supporters at the convention in London was Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath, who told the crowd that once the NDP was in power next year, Ontarians would have the option of changing to a government that was for working people and families.

Sattler had previously worked as a school board trustee and chairperson for the Thames Valley School District, and also as a policy director for a London research firm.
