OPP Urge Motorists To Slow Down

Provincial police are telling motorists not to treat the streets of Ingersoll like a personal race track.

Oxford OPP say they have received several complaints recently about speeding vehicles in the Ingersoll St. and Culloden Rd. area. Over the past two months, officers have issued 44 tickets in that area, mostly for speeding. Several tickets were also issued for disobeying stop signs.

In an effort to curb speeding through the area, police will be stepping up patrols. They are also reminding drivers to slow down and make safety their priority when behind the wheel.

"People have the ability to help positively influence the behaviour change that is needed on the part of those drivers who still put other innocent drivers at risk," said police in a news release. "Drivers putting their safety and innocent motorists at risk can expect to be charged."
