Tractor Operator Dies in Crash

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a farm tractor.

Police say the incident occurred before 4pm Sunday afternoon on Hwy 6 in Woodhouse in Norfolk County.   A white-coloured tractor operated by a 21-year-old man was traveling along the southbound shoulder of the highway.  The tractor was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by a 55-year-old Haldimand County man.  Upon the impact, the tractor overturned in a ditch and ejected the operator.

The farm tractor operator was pronounced dead at the scene by the attending coroner.  The pickup driver was not hurt.

It is not known why the tractor was traveling along the highway.  The operator has not been identified pending the notification of family members.

Investigators from the OPP Technical Traffic Collision unit are trying to determine exactly how the collision happened.

Hwy 6 between East Quarter Line Rd and Second Concession of Woodhouse was expected to remain closed through Sunday evening.
