Police Warn Of Door-To-Door Scam

Oxford OPP are warning residents in Tillsonburg about a pair of teens going door-to-door claiming to be collecting money for a local youth centre.

Police say the two male teens knocked on the door of at least two homes in the Whispering Pine area asking for cash donations for the Upper Deck Youth Centre-Youth For Christ. However, officers confirmed with the centre that it is not currently canvassing door-to-door for donations.

It's not known whether the teens were able to get any money through the scam.

The two suspects are described as white, 16-18 years old, one is approximately 6' tall with reddish hair, while the other is said to be heavier set with small marks on his face.

Police are reminding residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious people or vehicles in their neighbourhoods and to be sure to call officers while suspects may still be in the area. Anyone who is in doubt about a person's intentions, is advised to call police to check it out.
