Legendary sci-fi actor and Canadian icon William Shatner will visit London this fall.
London Comic Con announced on Monday that the man who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series will headline this year's show at the Western Fair District on October 13 and 14.
Shatner will take part in a Q&A session on the show's main stage and be available to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.
"We have had a ton of amazing celebrities attend London Comic Con over the years but no one quite defines what fan culture means like William Shatner does. I mean the guy is Captain Kirk, a legend of sci-fi, a Canadian icon and a Hollywood icon, he is the celebrity that has been most requested by our fans and is most sought after by conventions around the world," said Andrew Kitt, president of London Comic Con.
Shatner, who also starred in TV shows T.J Hooker and Rescue 911, is the first celebrity guest to be announced for this year's three-day event.
Last year, London Comic Con set a new attendance record with 10,000 comic book lovers, cosplay enthusiasts, and pop culture fans turning out in droves. It's expected the addition of Shatner to this year's event will mean even more people will come through the doors.
"Having Shatner at London Comic Con brings our event to a whole new level, with Shatner coming to town it practically ensures we will have a greater turn-out of fans for our 2017 event," said Kitt. "Like past years we will continue to attract fans from across all of Ontario and the bordering United States but from what he have heard we can expect fans to travel from across the country to meet Shatner."
The show offers more than 150 vendors and interactive fan zones, in addition to celebrity photo and media sessions.
