SIU Probing Incident Involving Weaving Transport Truck

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is now looking into an incident that saw OPP officers stop a transport truck that was weaving from lane to lane on Hwy. 401 in London.

Over the noon hour on Tuesday, police were called about a transport truck being driven erratically in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Dutton.

Officers tried to stop the truck, but the driver continued on toward London. Officers from the Middlesex and Elgin County OPP detachments were able to set up a “moving containment” and bring the tractor trailer to a stop just after the Colonel Talbot Rd. exit. No vehicles were damaged during the stop. The truck driver was charged with impaired driving.

According to the SIU, the man was diagnosed with a foot injury after he was arrested.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. It is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
