The London Police Service has charged an officer from Waterloo with multiple assault-related offences in connection with an off-duty matter.
A patrol officer with the Waterloo Regional Police Service has been suspended with pay after being charged with assault with a weapon, sexual assault and six counts of assault. Waterloo police say the incidents were "family-related."
The officer allegedly committed the offences between May 2013 and March 2015, and Waterloo police were made aware of the allegations in late 2016.
The name of the officer will not be released as it may identify the victim.
The officer is scheduled to be in the Ontario Court of Justice in London on February 27. The Waterloo Regional Police Service Professional Standards Branch will also be conducting a review of the circumstances.
