Police Look For Rightful Cash Owners

Provincial police are hoping to find the rightful owners of cash found in two different locations in Oxford County over the holidays.

A man using the bank machine at the Bank of Montreal on Broadway St. in Tillsonburg, found more than $250 on Christmas Eve. The OPP say the man waited 30 minutes for the owner of the money to return. When no one showed up, the man turned the cash over to police.

The bank is assisting police to help locate the owner.

Two days after the money was found in Tillsonburg, more cash was found at a service centre near Woodstock.

The OPP say a man found more than $250 in American money on the sidewalk at the eastbound ONroute Service Centre off of Hwy. 401 in South-West Oxford Township. That money was also turned over to police.

Anyone who wishes to claim the money, in either incident, will have to identify the exact amount and time it was lost.

Police also encourage those who had family visiting from out of town over the holidays to check with their relatives to see if the cash belongs to them.
