Lightning Players Arrested After Police Officer Assaulted

Two players with the London Lightning are facing charges after allegedly assaulting a female police officer at a London bar.

The London Police Service says officers were called to Joe Kool's at 595 Richmond St. at around 1:45am on Saturday, in response to an incident involving Lightning guard Marcus Capers and Lightning forward Taylor Black.

After police arrived at the bar, a female officer was assaulted and suffer a minor injury, which did not need to be treated.

As a result, Capers, 26, and Black, 24, have been charged with assaulting a police officer. Black is also charged with resisting arrest.

The London Lightning issued a statement late Tuesday afternoon to say the organization would not being making a comment regarding Black and Capers at this time.  The statement also said the organization is investigating the incident, and Black and Capers are both being represented by lawyers at this time.
