Attempted Murder Charge Laid In Crime Spree

A 26-year-old Haldimand man, already charged with 40 offences in relation to a crime spree and police chase southwest of London, is now facing an attempted murder charge.

In addition to attempted murder, Gary Green is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer.

The charges stem from an incident on September 23 when a white pickup truck failed to stop for police on Southdel Dr. in Southwold Township. The truck, which had been reported stolen, did not stop for police and was last seen leaving Hwy. 401 near Shedden.

According to police, the truck was abandoned in Shedden where a home was broken into and the keys to a blue pickup truck were stolen.

After failing to stop for police on Talbot Line, the blue truck crashed into two police cruisers on Mill Rd, then hit another two cruisers on Longhurst Line. The truck was later found abandoned.

Police say two males flagged down a passing motorist after that, assaulting the driver and passenger in an attempt to steal the vehicle. Two males were arrested in a ditch shortly after.

The attempted murder charge is in relation to injuries suffered by one of four police officers hurt in the collisions.

Green was previously charged with total of 40 offences, including:
