Provincial police are reassuring the public a transport truck that went up in flames at the side of Hwy. 401 near Dutton was not hauling any hazardous cargo.
The truck was in the westbound lanes of the highway between Currie Rd. and Iona Rd. when it caught fire around 3pm on Tuesday. Elgin OPP closed the highway in both directions due to thick smoke from the fire.
All lanes were reopened around 7:15pm.
The driver of the transport truck was not injured.
Police say while the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined there is nothing to suggest it is suspicious in nature.
