Suspect In Custody After Bank Robbery

For the second time in less than a week, an east London bank has been robbed.

London police say a lone male walked into the Bank of Montreal at 555 Hamilton Rd. around 10:30am Wednesday and demanded money.

The man then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have not said whether a weapon was used in the robbery, but no one was hurt.

Around 11:30am, a 30-year-old man was arrested in the area of King Edward Ave. in relation to the robbery. Police say while some evidence has been recovered, officers continue to search the area for additional evidence.

Last Thursday, the Scotia Bank at 950 Hamilton Rd. was robbed just before noon. In that case a man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and escaped on a motorcycle.
