Hamilton Man Drowns In Lake Erie

A 19-year-old Hamilton man has drowned while swimming with friends at Long Point Provincial Park.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Saturday around 4:15pm, officers responded to area after the man, who was in the water in the Outer Bay with two other friends, went under and didn't resurface.

He has since been identified as 19-year-old Hussein Da Silva of Hamilton.

The Canadian Coast Guard attempted to aid in the search for Da Silva, but due to poor weather conditions, they were unsuccessful.

At around 7:15pm, two people walking along with beach at the provincial park, spotted Da Silva in the water and brought him to shore. They attempted CPR but were unable to resuscitate him.

Da Silva was pronounced dead at the scene by an attending coroner.
