Majors Prepare For Showdown With Kitchener

An Intercounty Baseball League pennant is within the grasp of the London Majors.

But they need one more win against the first-place Kitchener Panthers.

The Majors beat Burlington 10-6 on Thursday night for their sixth straight win. RJ Fuhr had four hits and knocked in two runs while scoring twice to lead London's attack. Owen Boon got the win, allowing two runs on four hits in six innings of work.

The Majors are a half game back of Kitchener with a showdown against the Panthers on Friday night at Labatt Park. It will be the Majors' final game of the regular season. With a win, they will be a half game ahead of Kitchener. The Panthers will play the last game on their schedule on Sunday against Brantford.

If the two teams finish the season in a first-place tie, they would face each other in a one-game playoff in London next week.

A first place finish for the Majors would be their first since 2008. It would also assure them of home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Game time Friday night at Labatt Park is 7:35pm.
