Londoners are being invited to watch the final show of The Tragically Hip's Man Machine Poem tour on a big screen.
Mayor Matt Brown joined Free 98.1's Stax Show with Blair and Heather on Tuesday morning to announce the August 20 event.
The CBC broadcast of the concert in Kingston will be shown in Victoria Park as part of an all-ages event. The 15-date tour, which finishes with the August 20 show in Kingston, was announced in the wake of the announcement that the band's singer, Gord Downie, had incurable brain cancer.
"We hope Londoners will come out and join us in Victoria Park to celebrate this iconic Canadian band," says Mayor Brown. This truly is a unique event for our city and is sure to prove a fun and memorable night for the whole family."
The concert is expected to begin at 8:30. Anyone coming to Victoria Park is advised to arrive early.
The event is free and "family friendly." People are advised to bring lawn chairs and blankets and are asked to leave their pets at home.
