Record June For Home Sales

It was a record breaking month for home sales across the London-St. Thomas region.

The London and St. Thomas Association of Realtors (LSTAR) says 1,133 homes changed hands last month, making it their best June on record.

"Not only are we on a roll, we are on a streak, a winning streak," says Stacey Evoy, president of LSTAR. "April 2016 was the best April ever. May 2016 lost out to May 2007 – the best month in the history of LSTAR – by only 7 units, and June was the best June ever."

Two storey homes were the popular purchase in June with 296 sold, that was followed by bungalow, and ranches. High rise apartment condos were at the bottom of the list with only 45 changing hands.

According to Evoy, new listing were down by 9.2% in June shifting the area into a seller's market.

“Given how tight supply is, if you were thinking of listing your home, now might be a good time to do just that,” says Evoy.

Home sales were up year-to-date by 8.6%.
