Some much needed improvements are on the way for Hwy 3 south of London.
Ontario Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca announced the $4.3-million repaving project while on a stop in the city on Monday.
Nearly 10km of Hwy. 3 from Talbotville to west of Centennial Ave. through St. Thomas will be repaved with the bulk of the work scheduled for next month. Approximately 43 jobs are expected to be created or sustained as a result of the road work.
St. Thomas Mayor Heather Jackson sees the re-paving as a great way to generate jobs in the community.
"Keeping highway surfaces in good condition is important to residents, businesses and tourists traveling on this busy stretch of highway," says Jackson. "We appreciate the Provincial government’s commitment to improving infrastructure that provides an opportunity to create jobs and build stronger economic integration across the region and improve the lives of all living in Southwestern Ontario."
The Hwy. 3 repaving is one of ten construction projects the province is funding in southwestern Ontario this summer.
