London police held a commercial truck safety blitz this week and the results were not good.
Officers trained in Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection carried out the blitz on Wednesday. They inspected five vehicles and all five were taken off the road. A total of 15 violations were found. They ranged from administrative omissions to major mechanical defects.
Police say pre-trip inspections, which are mandatory, would have caught these issues.
A release from London police says they look to "transport truck drivers on London roads to ensure the safe condition of their vehicles every day by making a commitment to being among the safest drivers on the road."
