Bystander Pulls Driver From Burning Vehicle

A passerby is being commended for helping a driver out of a burning car after a crash near London's core.

The London fire department says a vehicle burst into flames after a head-on collision in the eastbound lanes of the Riverside Dr. bridge near Museum London around 5:30pm Thursday.

Fortunately, a nearby civilian helped the driver out of the burning vehicle before fire crews arrived. The driver was treated for a minor head injury.

Fire officials are thanking the Londoner who assisted the driver for the brave act but don't recommend this action as vehicle fires can be volatile and unpredictable. They say citizens should call 911 first to ensure fire crews are on their way.

Damage is pegged at $3,500.
