One man is dead after a two-vehicle crash involving a transport truck on Hwy. 401.
A white cargo van was travelling in the eastbound lanes around 6:30am Thursday when it rear ended a transport truck that was getting onto the highway from Culloden Rd. The van then veered across the eastbound lanes and slammed into the centre median.
The driver of the van was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The transport truck driver was not injured.
Hwy. 401 eastbound between Culloden Rd. and Hwy. 19 was closed for more than four hours as police investigated the cause of the crash.
All eastbound lanes of the highway were re-opened at 11am.
