Police Cruiser Hits University Student

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a London police cruiser hit a Western University student in the downtown.

The SIU says the police cruiser was heading north on Richmond St., near Piccadilly St. when it hit a 20-year-old female student just after 12am Monday. The woman was one of three people who had exited a taxi and were crossing the road in front of Molly Blooms Pub and Restaurant when she was struck.

The woman was taken to hospital with a fractured shoulder.

Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to probe the circumstances of the incident.

The SIU is called into investigate reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
