London police say a man walked into the Dollarama on Baseline Rd. E. around 8:20pm Saturday and handed the cashier a note demanding money.
The man then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No weapon was seen during the robbery.
Police made an arrest after getting a tip from a citizen who saw a man get into a nearby vehicle.
Michael MacLennan of London is charged with robbery with violence or threats.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
