Health Centre Names New Executive Director

A well known name in the not-for-profit and public sectors is taking the helm of the London InterCommunity Health Centre.

Scott Courtice has been named Executive Director of the agency. His appointment was announced by the Centre's Board of Directors on Friday.

“This appointment presents us with the opportunity to take a strategic look at our operations, our community partnerships and our relationships with all levels of government, and to leverage them to the greatest possible benefit,” says Board Chair Steve Goodine. “Scott has the right mix of expertise for this moment in the Health Centre’s history, as a respected community leader, passionate advocate for equity and social justice, and an expert in organizational renewal.”

Courtice comes to the centre with 12-years experience at the executive level, holding positions with the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance and Toronto-based nonprofit, Meal Exchange.

In his most recent role as Managing Director of Government Services for Western University's Students’ Council, Courtice worked with a staff of 55 full-time employees and over 300 part-time employees and volunteers. He currently serves as the Chair of the London Public Library Board.

The London InterCommunity Health Centre has been providing health and social services for 20 years to the homeless, immigrants, and those battling mental health and addiction issues.

“As pressure on our economy and social system increase, and our community becomes increasingly diverse, the Health Centre’s work on behalf of London’s most vulnerable populations has never been more important,” says Courtice. “To be the strongest and most prosperous community we can be, we have to ensure that everyone has equal access to quality health and social services.”

Courtice's first day on the job will be April 25.
