Getting around Western University's campus just got a lot more complicated.
As of Monday the University is no longer allowing the 60'' articulated London Transit buses to cross the University Dr. bridge due to new weight restrictions.
Instead, the thousands of students, faculty and staff who commute to campus via public transit will be dropped off at the University gates on Richmond St.
Western officials banned the extra long LTC buses from crossing the bridge for the foreseeable future following a recent engineering inspection. The inspection recommended the articulated buses not run over the structure until further assessments are completed.
The 6 Richmond, 6A Richmond and the 13 Wellington routes will now stop at the University gates instead of crossing the bridge onto campus. From there riders can take temporary on-campus shuttles from 7:30am to 10:30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 7:30am to 7pm, Friday.

Updates regarding the bus detour will be posted to both the LTC and University websites on an ongoing basis.The LTC anticipates the detour will be in place until April or May.
Buses from routes that do not cross the University Dr. bridge will still be allowed onto campus.
