One Dead, 4 Sent To Hospital in 3 Vehicle Crash in Simcoe

Norfolk OPP are investigating a fatal 3 vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County paramedics responded the crash on Queensway West shortly before 5 p.m.

Through the course of investigation, OPP determined a grey vehicle was stopped in an eastbound lane on Queensway West waiting to turn northbound into a business when it was struck from behind by a black pick-up truck driven by a 21-year-old man from Norfolk County.

As a result of the collision, the grey vehicle was thrust into the westbound lanes on Queensway West where it was struck by a blue pick-up truck.

The driver of the grey coloured vehicle, a 66-year-old man from Norfolk County, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the blue pick-up truck, a 28-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario, and 25 year-old female passenger along with a 2-year-old child and 3-year-old child were transported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures.

The driver of the black coloured pick-up did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Queensway West between Hunt Street and Cedar Drive was closed to allow for further police investigation, which is continuing.
