After a 12 year absence, London is getting its air show back.
The announcement was made during Mayor Matt Brown's State of the City address on Tuesday morning and more details were released in a statement from Airshow London. The show will take place September 17 and 18 at the London International Airport. It is expected to feature 100 pilots and 50 planes, including the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and CF18 Demonstration Team.
“It has been 12 long years without an airshow and we are so excited to see its return,” says Brown. “This September we are gearing up to welcome crowds of 25,000 or more from right across Southwestern Ontario. They are going to see an absolutely amazing show.”
The news release from Airshow London says the show will showcase London's aviation, aerospace, and defence industries. It will also allow students in Fanshawe College's Schools of Aviation Technology and Public Safety to be involved in the planning and execution of the show.
“Fanshawe’s School of Aviation Technology is one of Ontario’s best,” says Peter Devlin, President of Fanshawe College. “With our exceptional facility located at the Airport, we are thrilled about being right in the middle of such an exciting and important event.”
