Charges of extortion and assault have been laid against a 35-year-old St. Thomas man.
St. Thomas police say two men got into an argument which quickly became violent Wednesday. The fight prompted one of the men to turned to a friend for money. He claimed he would be badly hurt if he didn't pay the cash he owed to the other man who was involved in the fight.
Police say the investigation into the incident took officers from St. Thomas to Port Burwell and back.
An unidentified 35-year-old man is charged with one count of extortion, one count of assault and three counts of breach of probation.
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
