London police are pleading with drivers and pedestrians alike to look out for each other after three pedestrians were hit by vehicles on Monday, including one who is fighting for his life in hospital.
Emergency crews were called to Fanshawe Park Rd. and Aldersbrook Gate around 5:30pm Monday, where a 42-year-old man had been hit by a pickup truck. Police say the man suffered life-threatening injuries and, as of Tuesday morning, was listed in critical condition in hospital.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
Earlier in the day, a 22-year-old woman was injured when she was hit by a vehicle as she crossed Adelaide St. near Fanshawe Park Rd.
Police are also are investigating vehicle-pedestrian collision that happened at the intersection of Wellington Rd. and Horton St. around 8:35pm Monday. A 33-year-old male suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.
"Safety is a shared responsibility, not only for drivers but for pedestrians," says London police Constable Ken Steeves. "In each of these cases the investigations are on-going. But it appears as though it's not just drivers or it's not just pedestrians that may be at fault. So, when I say safety is a shared responsibility it's for everyone that's using our roadways."
Steeves says there have been 37 collisions involving pedestrians in London since November 1.
